Ernest & Carol Fullmer
Ernie has been the proud owner of Fullmer Professional Services since May 1, 1976. He started the company with the intention of adding a service to the public accounting industry that would help small businesses operate. He used his Business Management degree from Whitworth University as well as his experience working in the farm credit banking system to assist companies in the management of their business rather than just doing the typical bookkeeping and accounting services. The original CPA firm Ernie worked for thought his ideas were good, but never followed through with implementing them. Ernie decided that he would take matters into his own hands and thus created Professional Services. When he quit the CPA firm, he had four new clients who were interested in his style of service.
Ernie began work in a time when Vietnam veterans in the area were having trouble functioning within society, and living on the fringe. He worked to assist many with coming back into society by filing very late tax returns, and getting these people refunds. To this day, Professional Services takes pride in the number of non-profit and community organizations it assists.
Business has changed since the 1970s, and Ernie has always been focused on keeping up-to-date for the benefit of his clients. In 1994, he hired his son Patrick as the company IT expert in order to keep up with the dramatic technological changes. Most recently, Professional Services has implemented a new portal technology for submitting paperwork rather than relying solely on the postal service. Questions are answered electronically using e-mails, and even texting, however Ernie understands the importance of being available through phone calls or face-to-face meetings and welcomes any form of communication with which his clients are most comfortable.
Professional Services relies on a strong word of mouth system for advertising. The compassionate services Ernie provides to all types of people and businesses has kept his clientele base strong and consistently coming back year after year. There was a point in the 1980s that the number of clients got to be too many, so Ernie had to cut back in order to do the work and service he knew was best for each of them. He is proud of the fact that some clients have been with the company for 44 years and he is now working on their estates and trusts. Ernie is even doing tax returns for the children of his oldest clients. People who have moved away from the Spokane area have continued to use Professional Services, and so the positive word of mouth advertising has spread across the country. Ernie and Professional Services now serve small businesses, non-profits, ordained ministers with their churches, and individuals in 11 different states. Ernie is proud to say that any CPA firm would love to have this clientele and their loyalty.
Ernie and his wife, Carol, married since 1967, are proud of the strong family they have created together. They have five children, six grandchildren, two great grand-daughters and one great-grandson. Ernie created a company to create successful small businesses and individuals but ended up creating a business that also taught his children and grandchildren to work hard in their own lives. Stop by the office and you are sure to hear the latest story of interesting things happening in the lives of this family

Patrick & Kristin Fullmer
Patrick officially started working at Fullmer Professional Services alongside his father Ernie after he graduated from Gonzaga University in 1993 with his Mechanical Engineering degree. But if we are getting technical, Patrick started working for his dad around the age of 10 when he would scrubbing toilets at the Mission Street location, or when he us to type tax returns on the typewriter as a kid. Since 1993 Patrick has helped bring the business into the computer age. Patrick works long hard hours making sure our clients are taken care of and happy. He has a keen eye for detail, he is organized, he is willing to research anything for a client and he has a direct communication style. The best way to get in touch with him is email. He is happy to chat about any building projects you have going on in your life, whether it is a home project or a hotrod. Patrick would like to call himself the “Jack of All Trades” here at FPSC, as in 2011 we purchased the location on Wall Street and Patrick almost single handedly gut and remodeled the entire building himself, with little help from a few clients and family members.
Kristin started working at Fullmer Professional Services in September 2010. She left the banking world after 10 years and decided to work part time for Ernie and Pat to focus on their family. Since starting at Fullmer Professional Services she keeps the office running smoothly, and has been working the front desk, doing bookkeeping, data entry, and tax returns during the season. Kristin also plays a part in her community as she coaches the middle school age cross country for Spokane International Academy during the Fall. She also enjoys hunting with her dad, brother and occasionally Patrick. But her number one favorite thing to do is watching and supporting her girls. Seeing them grow up and compete in sports themselves is their number one past time.
We love to spend time together as a family, whether its camping, working around the house, walking on the beach, working out or just having our Friday Family Movie Nights! We are big supporters of Lily’s soccer career, Sammy’s dance, and Addy’s gymnastics. Kristin is passionate about running and being fit and drags Patrick with her to the gym or as a driver for one of her 200-mile relays. Pat is active chasing all his girl’s passions while still trying to fit in a car show, work on a project car or truck, tinkering in his shop and he always has time for Gonzaga basketball during their season. Whether we are all on a family bike ride, at a soccer game, gymnastics, or dance we love being together. Our current pup in our family is “Porter” who we love so much! Stop by anytime for some puppy snuggles, a quick tug of war or game of fetch, after he barks to make sure you are safe as he is just doing his job.
Lily started officially working for Fullmer Professional Services in 2019 during the summers and evenings when she can make it after school. She also works part time for Barnes and Noble and is currently attending North Central High School. Her love of Soccer allowed her to get on the Varsity Team as a freshman and she also plays Club ball for EW Surf. She plans to continue to challenge herself through high school with lots of honors and AP Math and Science classes so she can transfer to an out of state college where she would like to study Medicine or Veterinarian Medicine and play soccer of course.
